"Japan International Cooperation Agency Visit"

         The 505th Search and Rescue Group was visited by the Survey and Research Team under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on 25 January 2017. The team was headed by MR. MASAKI OSADA and he is accompanied by 3 other fellow Japanese researchers namely Mr. Satoshi Takana, Ms. Yoshimi Hayashi and Mr. Tomoki Tesuka. Joining the 505th SRG in engaging the team of Mr. Osada are Makati Medical Center Foundation led by Ms. Marge Barro and Pilipinas 911 under Mr. Ruel Kapunan. They are the strategic partners of 505th SRG in enhancing the capability of the unit to make it more responsive in their SAR and disaster relief operations. The visit is part of JICA's effort to help in determining the present capability gaps of 505th SRG and to provide the necessary solution within the framework of JICA's mandate. Some of the highlights of the visit was a short briefing and dialogue, static display of SAR equipment and capped by a SAR demonstration wherein personnel of 505th SRG and Pilipinas 911 jointly performed Mass Casualty Incident operation and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue using the S-76 helicopter. The group of Mr. Osada will have further visits to the unit in order to collaborate and consult with our personnel towards improving the capabilities of the unit.
